Privacy policy
Draft; lawyer review pending.
The short version
We collect as little as possible. We never ask for your child’s name or diagnosis. We never share your email or your number. We never sell anything we hold. We use website analytics that set no cookies and do not track you across sites. If you want to know what we hold about you, or want it deleted, write to hello@answersforfamilies.com and we will do it.
Phone numbers are never shared with third parties for marketing.
What we collect from parents
The waitlist form (home page). When you join the waitlist, we store your email address; your mobile number, only if you give it and tick the consent box; a flag recording whether you consented, the time you consented, and the exact consent text you agreed to; your county, if you give it; the page address where you signed up; and a source tag, if you arrived from a link we handed out (for example, a flyer at a Family Resource Center). We never store a mobile number without consent. If you give a mobile number but do not tick the consent box, the form refuses to send, and nothing is stored.
The text helper waitlist. The same as above, plus the county (required, because helper spots open by county) and your child’s age band, if you choose to give it, so the first message is right. We also record when a helper spot is offered to you, whether you take it, and whether you turn it down. A mobile number is required for this form, because the helper is a texting product — and the same consent rule applies: no consent, no number stored.
The Spanish waitlist. The same fields, in Spanish, under the same rules.
What we never ask for. We never ask for your name, your child’s name, your child’s diagnosis, or any medical or financial detail. Do not send us those things. There is no parent account and no child profile on this site.
The honeypot. Every form has a hidden field that only automated spam can see. Anything typed into it is never stored.
Texting consent
We text you only if you asked us to, by ticking the consent box on a form. The consent box is unchecked by default. The consent text says what you are agreeing to, that message and data rates may apply, and that you can reply STOP to cancel and HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of any purchase — parents never pay for anything here.
No texting happens until the business texting number is registered with the carriers and STOP and HELP have been tested with a real phone. You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP.
Phone numbers are never shared with third parties for marketing.
What we collect from providers
The provider interest form (For providers). When a business says it is interested in a listing, we store the business name, category, county, contact name, contact email, phone number if given, which tier interests you, the date, and a source tag if you arrived from a link we handed out. We use it only to contact you about listing and verification. We do not sell it or share it with other businesses.
Business details on listings are public business details only. A provider listing shows business contact details only — business phone, business email, website, and social pages — never a personal cell number or a home address. Contact names shown on a listing come from the provider’s own website.
Checks and reviews. The facts we publish about a provider come from official registries, vendor lists, plan directories, and our own test calls. We take notes on test calls; we never record them. Parents’ reviews are stored with the date submitted and the parent’s confirmation that they are a parent or guardian of a child the provider served. We do not publish a reviewer’s name, email, or phone number.
What we never share or sell
We never share your email or your number. Phone numbers are never shared with third parties for marketing. We never sell any personal information to anyone. We do not share parent contact details with providers, and we do not share one family’s information with another family.
The only outside services that hold parent information are the ones that have to in order to run the forms and the texts: the form provider that stores the waitlist, the email tool that sends confirmation and launch emails, and the texting provider that sends the helper’s messages. Each holds only what it needs, under its own policy. The waitlist lives in the business’s own Google account, not a personal one.
Website analytics
We use Plausible Analytics to count visits to our pages — for example, how many parents started the road map or opened a directory category. Plausible sets no cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not collect your name, email, or phone number. It cannot identify you.
Reviews
Only a parent or guardian of a child a provider served may post a review, and we ask them to confirm that. Reviews are never paid for, by us or by the provider. We remove a review only if it threatens someone, names a child or shares private information, is not from a real client, or is about a different provider. When we remove one, we note that a review was removed and why. A provider’s reply appears under the review, labeled as the provider’s. We do not publish reviewers’ contact details.
How long we keep things
We keep waitlist entries until you ask us to delete them, or until the list is no longer needed — for example, after your helper spot has opened and you have taken it or turned it down. Test entries are deleted after testing. If a form row ever appears with a mobile number and no consent flag, it is deleted in the weekly review.
What we hold about you, and deleting it
To ask what we hold about you, or to ask us to delete it, write to hello@answersforfamilies.com from the email address you signed up with. Tell us which list you joined (the waitlist, the helper list, or the provider interest form). We will confirm what we hold and delete it on your request. Unsubscribing from emails and replying STOP to texts also work at any time.
Parents: because we never ask for your child’s name or diagnosis, there is no child record to ask about or delete. Providers: business details shown on a public listing can be corrected through the correction process in the Terms.
Children’s information
This site is for parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children, and we never ask for a child’s name, diagnosis, or any other detail about a child.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with the date it changed. Until the lawyer has reviewed it, this page stays marked “Draft; lawyer review pending.”
